Biography :
‘Kirsty is a professional freelance violinist whom freelances all over the UK as a chamber and orchestral musician. She has freelanced with numerous orchestras including the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, English National Ballet, the Orchestra of Scottish Opera and the London Musical Theatre Orchestra. She has recorded for BA Airline with the London Symphony Orchestra as a representative of the Royal Academy of Music. Kirsty is a keen chamber musician and has won numerous prizes as part of a quartet as well as a soloist – these include the Robert Highgate Prize for Violin, Mabel Glober Prize and the Thomas and Margaret Roddan Scholarship. As a founding member of the Corran Quartet, she has performed with them extensively and highlights include live radio Broadcasts of ‘BBC Radio 3 In Tune,’ as well as performing the complete Cycle of Beethoven Quartets to celebrate his 250th anniversary in 2020. They were also invited to be Quartet in Residence at Musique Cordial in France in the summer of 2020.
Kirsty has been invited to partake and perform in numerous music festivals; namely Mendelssohn on Mull, Cantelina Music Festival, Aberdeen International Youth Festival, Festival MusicAlpe and Glasgow Cathedral Festival.

Kirsty holds a Master of Arts with Distinction from the Royal Academy of Music in London and a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honors from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Throughout her years of study, Kirsty also did second study piano, Baroque Violin and traditional Scottish Fiddle. She also holds a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music in Music Teaching.

She has vast teaching experience with a 100% Distinction/Merit pass rate for ABRSM exams. Kirsty has undertaken coaching of various teaching methods that include Kodaly and Alexander Technique. She is currently a violin teacher at David Game College and has coached chamber music and violin students at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Summer Schools. She has an Enhanced DBS Check.

Kirsty is the co-founder of award-winning Dahlia Music which spans across London and Manchester.  She also holds a qualification from the Open University in Global Ethics. Kirsty enjoys playing on a Silvestre violin kindly on loan from the Harrison-Frank Foundation.

Kirsty believes herself to be a highly adaptable and compassionate teacher. She strives to instil an all-important work ethic in her students and allow them to reap the rewards of diligent and patient work. This is fundamental in the learning process and a skill that is highly-transferable throughout all walks of life. The goal is to enjoy the process!’
